The University was established in June 1985 around the nucleus of Centre for Post Graduate Instruction and Research of the University of Bombay in Goa. The University Campus is located on the outskirts of Panaji, the capital city and spread over nearly 173 hectares on the Taleigao plateau overlooking the scenic Zuari River joining the Arabian Sea. The Goa University is the premier centre of learning.

Goa University was established in 1985 incorporating the then existing PG Centre for Instruction and Research of the University of Bombay.

Goa University is considered the centre for higher education in Goa, a former Portuguese colony and now India's smallest and wealthiest state per capita, which has only a single university for its population of 1.4 million people.

Admission Procedure

The procedure for above is mentioned in detail in the annual handbookpublished and made available during the first week of June, each year.
More information on admission can also be directly obtained from the academic sections, concerned departments, or colleges in person.
All the admission forms are directly received by the concerned office of the various departments on the University campus.
Members of the public can visit the office from 12.00 noon to 13.00 hrs. on all working days, according to the Citizen's Charter of the Goa University
